This collection of notes & musings looks at some of the practical aspects of running magical workshops, from the point of view of the facilitator.
The first section examines some basic considerations of running workshops. The second section looks at the feedback dynamics between facilitator & audience.
The third section looks at approaches to structuring workshop presentations and offers some comments on developing Presentation Styles.
Finally, I will examine the use of various aids and props, and some miscellaneous issues relating to venue management and working outdoors.
I have been facilitating magical workshops of one kind or another for nearly eight years, although I have also had the advantage of running psychotherapy & dramatherapy groups prior to this.
This essay draws together much of what I have observed and taught myself over the years. It’s by no means definitive, and as ever, feedback and comments from readers would be much welcomed.
